#20Time Reflection #3
For this post I'm going to talk about the more glamorous side of makeup, since that's what I've been focusing on lately. I've been practicing doing different makeup looks on various people to get experience with different skin colors and face shapes. I have discovered what looks good and bad with face shapes other than my own and how to branch out with different looks. Some of the things that I've learned are how much eyebrows can change the way a face looks similar to contouring. Since eyebrows are a focal point of the face, the shape of them can really determine how your face looks. Certain brow shapes suit certain face shapes better than others just like how certain lip colors suit certain skin colors. Contouring is similar. Contouring and highlighting became very big a few years ago and is still booming today. When you contour certain ares of your face, you create a shadow giving the illusion that it is somewhat hidden whereas highlighting does the opposite. When you highlight areas on your face you bring attention to that area causing the eye to look at that specific area. This technique is especially big in Hollywood allowing stars to have the flawless skin look in their productions whether it be a play or a blockbuster movie. Different faces require different techniques which is why I have been practicing on many people.

#20Time Reflection
So far my project has been going good. I recently went to the store and purchased some fake blood and gelatin. Fake blood is a necessity to anything SFX and gelatin is a food product that can be mixed with glycerin and water and make a product similar to 3rd Degree (a professional SFX makeup product). I started testing the gelatin out and it turned out fairly well. I made a small bullet wound on my forehead and tried a scar on my cheek. I've also been experimenting with glam makeup. I tried Kim Kardashian contouring. It looked pretty insane at first but then once I started blending it actually looked really good. I've been very happy with my work lately. I'm also currently working on an email to one of my biggest inspirations to hopefully be my mentor. It's been really hard to construct a proper email to her but I'm trying to stay hopeful. I'll keep working on testing looks and the email and then update the blog.

Intro to my Blog
Hey! My name is Gracie. This is my blog for my 20time project. For my project I'm going to be doing special effects (SFX) make and the impact of makeup on entertainment. I've always been interested in the gory side of makeup, but I was never allowed to be anything scary for Halloween because I'm the oldest and I would end up scaring all of the younger kids in my family. I was finally allowed to do gory makeup and effects a few years back and quickly became obsessed. This blog will be dedicated to my research and expierimentation in this field.
